Skirball Cultural Center – Rainbow Gallery Children’s Exhibit
Gizmo Art Production partnered with the Skirball Cultural Center to fabricate and install a series of immersive, nature-inspired play environments for the Rainbow Gallery children’s exhibit. Designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and physical activity, the installation transforms the gallery into an interactive landscape where young visitors can climb, crawl, slide, balance, and discover through hands-on engagement.
Key fabricated elements include the Planter Hut, a child-scaled gathering structure; the Toddler Cove Berms, which form soft, rolling topography that supports imaginative play; and the signature Rainbow Olive Tree, an interactive sculptural centerpiece designed specifically for younger children. Additional features include an integrated Ark Wall Slide, Rope Climb, custom Steps, and a multi-functional Seat/Berm element that functions as both seating and play infrastructure.
The project required close coordination between design intent, custom fabrication, durable finish systems, safety compliance, and interactive play performance. The resulting environment is a cohesive, accessible, and highly engaging exhibit that supports movement, sensory exploration, and social interaction for children and families visiting the Skirball Cultural Center.
