Designed by The Sibbett Group and fabricated by Gizmo Art Production, this interactive exhibit at the Sonoma County Museum presents a deeper and more inclusive history of Sonoma County. Built around recorded interviews collected by longtime Press Democrat columnist Gaye LeBaron, the installation combines oral histories with artifacts from the museum’s collection.
Through media, graphics, and objects, the exhibit highlights key chapters in the region’s past—from its first Native American inhabitants and Santa Rosa’s historic Chinatown to the post–World War II growth of the county’s Black community, the 1960s counterculture movement, the 19th-century timber boom, and the impact of the 2017 firestorms. The exhibit is designed to evolve as new stories and interviews are added.
Come experience the creative vision Gizmo’s team provided in the home of the 1910 Post Office building.
