Gizmo created these sound sculptures for Yurie Suzuki Studio to be installed in front of the High Museum.
Gizmo constructed all of the sound sculptures for the Yuri Suzuki Studio now located at the High Museum in Atlanta. All are made of thick steel tubing to be able to hold the weight of any visitor at the museum who would like to play with the exterior structures. The tubes were welded to fabricated parabolic metal shapes, then powder coated to make these fun interactive pieces.
Gizmo worked closely with Charcoal Blue, the projects management team.
“Sonic Playground continues the High’s multiyear initiative to animate its outdoor space with commissions that engage visitors in participatory art experiences. It is the High’s first venture into exploring the notion of audible play—how the sounds all around us can be constructed, altered and experienced. The installation transforms the piazza into a welcoming atmosphere for socializing and recreation and serves as a stage for performances and art-making activities the High is co-organizing with local arts organizations.”
