Daniel Hopper created the custom metal rings and Gizmo attached them to backers and had custom light spheres made for the building facade.
Gizmo Art Production project managed, fabricated parts, and installed Daniel Hopper’s sculpture that is now located at 1075 Market st. on the front of a new apartment building. Daniel Hopper is a bay area artist and modern blacksmith who fabricated the metal rings that make up the piece.
He says,” My goal is to use metal to help bring a space to life. I want the viewer to be inspired to describe my work with adjectives not nouns; strong, quiet, dramatic-as opposed to railing, chandelier, chair. I design metal to activate and participate in the space it occupies. Using patterns and design concepts found in nature, I allow the metal forms to become their own being, rather than force them to strictly represent or imitate nature.” Hopper is well known for his unique light fixtures and wall pieces.
The public art piece also includes fiberglass orbs that are translucent spheres round at 22″ and the casting is clear polyester resin fiberglass laminate approximate 1/4″ thick including pigment, UV clear coating, with UV additive to resin.
