Gizmo has had the honor of being featured on Flipboard’s “Art with a message” list by CODAworx in CODAmagazine. This list consists of 25 of the most influential works of art, specifically featuring art that is “created for the purpose of bringing about social change, or to raise awareness of social problems, through organizational efforts, creative visualizations, typography and text.” Gizmo’s team was fortunate enough to work with the incredible artist, Ana Teresa Fernandez on making her “Dream” come true.
This 50 foot wide sculpture which sits on a hill atop the 101/280 highway merge, highlights the hopes and aspirations of local communities, specifically through the life of graffiti artist Dream Francisco and messages of Doctor Martin Luther King Jr. In an effort to remember the hopes of the disempowered, Ana Teresa also worked with students from MLK middle school to show them the artistic process through which it was created, and to encourage them to expand their goals. DREAM was commissioned by the YBCA and co-sponsored by San Francisco Public Works.
