Gizmo is working closely with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s new Central Subway system, (operating from Chinatown to South of Market) and the SFAC’s Public Art Program, that is managing an exciting public art program that includes permanent artworks and related arts programming in adjacent neighborhoods. Contracted by Tutor Perini, Gizmo will be taking on a multitude of challenging tasks for this incredible city development.
Before the stations are opened to the public, Gizmo will be installing various art pieces throughout the site, including the works of Yumei Hou, Clare Rojas, Jim Campbell, Erwin Redl, Leslie Shows and Moto Ohtake. While Gizmo will be actually constructing Yumi Hou’s piece “Yang Ge, (Sprout Dance)” in our shop, both Clare Rojas and Leslie Shows works will require some building expertise as well. On top of this, Gizmo has been and will continue to store all the works in our state of the art fabrication shop before the install. This project has been ongoing since 2014.
