In the coming months Gizmo will have the pleasure of once again working with artist Ned Kahn on two outdoor installation projects. The first of these projects in collaboration with Cochran Studios is “Cloud Veil” to be installed in Columbia, Maryland. “Cloud Veil” is a large metal ring 12 feet off the ground in a large plaza complete with a sprinkler system going through it. The idea of “Cloud Veil” is that when people walk through the plaza and underneath it, water will mist them on a hot summer day.
The next project of Ned Kah’s that Gizmo is taking on will be the Oracle Waterfront in Austin, Texas. This piece will be a series of wires that extend all the way down the side of a garage on the Austin Commercial building. Austin Commercial has asked Ned Kahn to create this piece that sits 75 feet tall and 10 feet wide as an outdoor addition to their building. This piece, similar to the recent Los Angeles “Circa” building will be complete with the classic Ned Kahn moving parts attached to the wire that sway with the wind.
Both projects are very exciting and equally stimulating as outdoor installations.
