Val Britton in partnership with Gallery Wendi Norris, hired Gizmo to fabricate this incredibly detailed sculpture titled “Passage”, to hang in San Francisco.
The piece is mainly made up of waterjet cut and bent stainless steel pieces.
Gizmo’s process was to cut the pieces then allow Val Britton to paint them, and then lastly they would be bent into the many flowy shapes Britton requested.
Gizmo did a full mock-up of the sculpture in their 10,000 sq/ft shop located in San Francisco. This gave the client a chance to see the placement of the hundreds of individually hung pieces before installation.
When it was time to install Gizmo, made a numbering system to keep the pieces in the exact spots in which they were approved to hang, so when they arrived at their final destination they were ready to be placed accordingly.
