Gizmo Production, Inc. is proud to have completed the full fabrication and installation of a powerful cultural and historical exhibit exploring the lands and legacy of the Nisenan people, the impacts of the Gold Rush and Westward expansion, and the dramatic history of flooding in the Yuba–Sutter region. The exhibit opened in April 2025 at the Sutter County Museum in Yuba City, California.
Working closely with the designers at Ralph Appelbaum and Associates, the Sutter County Museum, historians, and community partners, our fabrication studio brought the exhibit to life through precise craftsmanship, durable materials, and thoughtful detailing that support sensitive and complex storytelling. The installation features interpretive displays that highlight the deep cultural roots of the Nisenan people, the transformations brought by early settlers, and the environmental challenges shaped by mining, development, and changing waterways.
Gizmo managed all aspects of production—from structural components and custom casework to graphics, interactive elements, and installation—ensuring that each exhibit zone supports visitors’ understanding of the region’s past and its lasting influence today.
This exhibit stands as an engaging, educational space that honors Indigenous history while offering a clear look at the forces that shaped the Sacramento Valley.
