For the Point Reyes Bird Observatory, Gizmo Art Production fabricated and installed a flexible exhibit system that supports both scientific storytelling and long-term durability in a high-traffic visitor environment.

Movable Display Cases

Working from The Sibbett Group’s design vision, we engineered a series of custom movable display cases built for stability, security, and effortless reconfiguration. Each case features:

• Precision-welded steel frames for structural integrity

• Museum-grade glazing for clarity and UV protection

• Concealed locking casters for smooth mobility and safe positioning

• Integrated lighting to highlight delicate bird specimens and artifacts

The result is a modular exhibit system that allows staff to update interpretive content without major reconstruction—ideal for a living research institution.

Printed Interpretive Signage

Gizmo produced and installed a comprehensive suite of printed interpretive panels, balancing scientific rigor with visual accessibility. We coordinated:

• High-resolution graphic production

• Durable, non-glare finishes for readability

• ADA-compliant mounting heights and typography

• Seamless integration with casework and architectural elements

Each panel was fabricated to withstand the coastal climate while maintaining color fidelity and longevity.

Interactive Exhibits

To deepen visitor engagement, we fabricated a series of hands-on interactive exhibits that translate ornithological research into accessible, physical experiences.

Highlights include:

• Rotating cube displays featuring illustrated scenes of conservation across the four seasons, allowing children to spin and explore changing habitats and bird behaviors

• Custom-built wall-mounted interactive elements that encourage tactile learning and discovery

• Durable tactile components engineered for continuous public use

• Concealed AV and power management systems

• Serviceable access panels for long-term maintenance

These components were carefully fabricated to withstand constant handling while maintaining refined finishes appropriate for a museum setting.
