Bay Area Young Survivors (BAYS) is a support and action group dedicated to young individuals in the San Francisco Bay Area who have been diagnosed with breast cancer at or before the age of 45.
The new installation features metal framing that surrounds the memorial space and showcases custom metal plaques. These plaques bear the names of BAYS members who have passed away, with provisions for future members to be commemorated over time.

How can the space be used?
This is an open space for all to enjoy as a respite and place of reflection. The Bay Area Young Survivors Breast Cancer Memorial Garden will, in perpetuity:
- Be a gathering, honoring, and memorializing space for anyone who is experiencing or touched by cancer and specifically metastatic breast cancer,
- Build community through volunteer workdays that bring together Bay Area Young Survivors members and families with neighborhood and partner organizations, and
- Provide a relaxing space in the San Francisco Bay Area’s park system, along the Bay Area Ridge Trail, that helps to preserve the environment for the well-being of everyone in our diverse community.
