In 2006, the city of Palo Alto hired Gizmo to create trail exhibits for the newly constructed gateway center. The exhibits had to be self-sustainable, durable and weather resistant. Gizmo’s team created a self-guided, interactive learning center for trail and nature education.
Graphic text panels and models were provided for visitors to experience through their sense, the various plant and animal life found at the Nature Center.
Several castings were made, including animal tracks, scat, bark samples, leaf samples, and a preserved quail. A topographical model of the preserve shows roadways, trails and other key locations, and touch-sensitive switches trigger three different audio experiences with indigenous bird calls.
